Paintings by Brett
The sale of Brett’s paintings support his reentry. A portion also covers I-O overhead.
Brett writes, “Why i paint! Because it relaxes me, and take me away from every thing even if it just for a min! Why i paint like this is cause not many people do.. And im different.. Doing my own thing riding my own wave going with the Flow!”
Yakusan, I-O steward, writes, “ I appreciate the lack of inhibition in Brett’s work. A lot of visual art made in prison aims to be photographic, which I personally don’t find that exciting, but this is clearly Brett’s inner vision. He’s not imitating anyone.”

2024
acrylic on cotton canvas panel
11” x 14”
Yakusan, I-O steward, writes, “In Cabin in the Rolling Hills, I love that the river is a snake. And the brushwork in the sky and grass make both electric. The house is at once open and closed - something I can relate to in my own house.”
